Biography
With her early studio photography Margret Wibmer reflects on the position of women. Later photos, staged in specific world locations, focus on performativity and the human body as a connective medium.
After spending a large part of the 1980s in New York, a period that significantly formed her life and artistic practice, she moved to Amsterdam where she is based since. Her work is included in public and private collections in Europe, the US and Japan and has been performed and exhibited internationally among others at Tokyo Garden, Japan / Bradwolff Projects, Amsterdam / Palais de Tokyo, Paris / RMIT Design Hub, Melbourne / Oude Kerk, Amsterdam / Ishikawa Nishida Kitaro Museum of Philosophy, Japan / Mode Biennale Arnhem / Galerie Lumen Travo, Amsterdam / KAI 10 – Arthena Foundation, Düsseldorf / Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato / Kunstpavillon Innsbruck / Fashion Moda Gallery, South Bronx.
