Open Studio Residency

10 – 26 September

In September, Movement Exposed Gallery Space will host what has now become an annual event centred on composer Kate Moore and her ongoing project, A Beautiful Path. During an open studio residency this year, Moore will showcase a different side to her multifaceted artistic practice. In addition to her musical compositions, she has previously created various installations that explored not only sound but also the qualities of imagery and materials, such as clay.

At MEGS, from 10 September, Moore will be working on a series of Musical Maps that span the landscape of the route she has mapped out between Oss (the Netherlands) and Skellig Michael (Ireland). She takes wood as her starting point. Wood lends colour and warmth to sounds as the basis for all manner of instruments, such as the vielle, with which Moore traverses the landscape during her walks. It also has the ability to float and is, in that sense, significant for her route, which involves crossing various waterways.

During the open studio residency, visitors will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with Moore.

Exhibition

10 September – 10 October

The visual aspect of Kate Moore’s work is further highlighted by an exhibition of her graphic scores at the gallery.
