On the first day of September, composer Kate Moore started her residency at Movement Exposed Gallery Space. Moving on to the next stage of the beautiful project The Ox Way, this year Kate Moore will further develop her ideas for a future exhibition at the gallery.
During her ongoing research on ‘plein air composing,’ for which she designed a personal walking route from Oss in The Netherlands to Skellig Michael in Ireland, she regularly touched base in Utrecht to present her initial ideas to the audience, to perform parts of her work-in-progress (2023), and to exhibit a sound installation alongside the documentary photography of parts of the route by Isabelle Vigier (2024). Both exhibitions were presented during and in collaboration with the Gaudeamus Festival.
In the course of the artist-in-residence period, the first rehearsals of the composition Garden of Thornless Roses, performed by Herz Medieval, will take place at MEGS. Herz Medieval consists of Arnout Lems – voice; Susanna Borsch – recorder; Michela Amici – medieval harp; Meiyi Lee – percussion; and Kate Moore – viella. The premiere of Garden of Thornless Roses will be presented at the Pandhof, the lustrous garden next to the Domkerk, during the Gaudemaus Festival .
